A nine-to-five job can be a pretty tiresome and mundane task even though it is a necessity for us to survive. Sometimes, all you really need is a shot of adrenaline that will help refresh all of your senses. Adventure sports can help add the much-needed dose of fun into our lives, and there are hundreds to choose from! You don’t have to be the fittest person in existence to enjoy adventure sports. All you really need to do is take time out to do some research and have a great time. If you have a group or a bunch of friends that you enjoy traveling with or doing adventurous things with, then that’s even better! So here is a list of nine adventure sports that you must try before you turn 35:
1. Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is much more challenging than you may think. If you are still new to the concept of it, then fret not. There are plenty of beginner-level places where you can practice climbing rocks. India is one of the places where rock climbing can really help you get your blood pumping, and there are plenty of places where you can try it out before you decide to hit the more significant and more spine challenging boulders.
2. Flying Fox
Engaging in this adventure sport will leave you feeling like the Indian Superman (Not Shaktimaan). In this adventure sport, you will be suspended high above and flying from one high lying point to another. The starting point of this sport is much higher, and gravity works to get you to reach its endpoint. This sport is a whole lot of fun, and we totally recommend it. Not only will you witness some gorgeous and breathtaking views, but you’ll also get to feel the wind through your hair.
3. Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is one of the most famous underwater sports and truly helps people experience what life for marine animals is like. You get to explore the marine world with the help of a special breathing apparatus and some training. One of the best places to go scuba diving is near many shipwrecks as they can attract plenty of marine life. This would make for one tremendous underwater view.
4. Bungee Jumping
Bungee Jumping is an activity that involves a person jumping off a tall structure while they are connected to an elastic cord. It is quite a unique free-falling experience when done off a cliff or at a beach. Even when you are upside down, the beach will be just as beautiful.
Skydiving is an adventure sport that needs no introduction. Have you ever wanted to glide through the air like a bird? Then Skydiving should be your go-to-sport (if you have the money for it, that is). This is a sport that you don’t need a lot of practice for (if you’re diving tandem). Beginners should go diving with an instructor who will guide them through the freefall. Go skydiving to feel the ultimate adrenaline rush.
6. Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is an adventure sport that has gained a lot of popularity in the last few decades. Trekking routes such as Singalila Ridge in West Bengal have become proper mountain biking routes too. If you are in the Southern part of this country, then there are plenty of other places that you can visit as well to go mountain biking. The IT capital of India, Bangalore, too has some exciting trekking routes on its outskirts. You can even get in touch with groups that conduct organized trekking tours.
Parasailing is an activity where you are suspended mid-air, attached to a parachute, and pulled by a speedboat. If you’ve visited the beautiful state of Goa, then you’ve probably seen plenty of people parasailing across the many beaches. Parasailing can give you a proper birds-eye view of all your surroundings and require no training. The adrenaline rush you get from parasailing will surely excite the inner adrenaline junkie inside you. If you don’t want to endure the intense crowds of Goa, it’s better to go during the off-season or indulge in parasailing in different coastal towns.
Flyboarding is another water-based activity, and it is pretty new in this country. Flyboarding involves standing on a skateboard-like device, and it is powered by a machine that causes water to lunge at the flyboard with immense force and pressure. This causes the user to float above the ground like they are wearing a jetpack. The force pushes you into the air, and you will float a few feet above the sea’s surface. Gokarna and Goa are two places where you can find those who conduct this adventure sport.
Trekking is one of India’s most popular adventure sports, and there are many levels at which one can go climbing. There are plenty of places in the country where there is diverse topography, and one can climb. You can explore plateaus, hillocks, mountains, and caves that make for excellent trekking destinations. There are plenty of unique trekking options available, like Zanskar Chadar Trek or the wonderfully beautiful Glacial Roopkund Lake Trek, where you can walk past skeletal remains of unfortunate climbers who could not make the trek.
There’s nothing like adventure sports to make you feel like you are at the top of the world. What better way to relax and unwind than using your body and movement to explore your surroundings?
